STLinSTL is proud to announce we have partnered with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis to reserve a limited number of tickets to the world premiere of the new two-act opera, An American Soldier. An American Soldier is based on the story of the tragic death of Chinese-American Army Private Danny Chen, who took his own life while stationed in a guard tower at a base in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. Based on the ensuing courts-martial of Chen’s fellow soldiers, An American Soldier addresses issues of patriotism, cultural identity, belonging, and otherness. Timothy O'Leary, General Director of Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, will be Monday's opening keynote speaker. His keynote will focus on how these issues impact education today.
Please note that only a limited number of tickets are available for this event, and require a separate, nominal fee at registration. The fee includes round-trip transportation, dinner on the opera grounds, ticket to the performance, and a champagne "meet and greet" with the cast after the show.
